Poverty Alleviation Project: Walking Together with Love

A survey found that one of the reasons for the prevalence of depression among the elderly is the sense of loss experienced after retirement. Since 2002, our organization has been dedicated to promoting employment for seniors, providing more choices for their later years, including finding employment opportunities.

Everbright Concern Action distributes lovingly prepared meal boxes to the elderly and impoverished communities every day, year-round. These meal boxes contain staple foods, vegetables, and nutritious soups to meet the basic nutritional needs of the underprivileged. Volunteers from various backgrounds participate in distributing meal boxes, interacting with beneficiaries, conducting home visits, and making regular phone calls to care for their physical and mental health and daily needs. This not only provides vulnerable communities with essential food but also brings care and support, making them feel the warmth and love of the community.

Training is provided for impoverished seniors to produce handicrafts, daily necessities, eco-friendly items, and souvenirs, which can be purchased by community members through vending machines. The "Senior Goods Vending Machine Program" offers a platform for vulnerable groups, especially the elderly, to earn an income and become self-reliant, ensuring they have support in their old age.

The program collects donated items and redistributes them to those in need, including food, clothing, and other daily necessities. This not only reduces waste but also assists community members in need. The purpose of the "Love Story Charity Goods Donation Program" is to promote mutual help and support among different sectors of the community while implementing green and sustainable lifestyles.

The "Gingko Supply Station" is a regional service program launched by Everbright Concern Action to assist underprivileged families and vulnerable groups in coping with shortages of food and household items. Through coordination with kind-hearted community members and collaboration with various businesses, the supply station collects and distributes food and daily necessities to the needy.

The "Leisurely Transport Team" is one of the projects providing employment opportunities for the elderly. It aims to boost their confidence and independence by allowing them to transport simple goods and earn a salary. Through this project, seniors rediscover their self-worth and a new role in social participation, enhancing their connection and integration with the community.

Love Bread Vending Machine

Everbright Concern Action, in collaboration with its partner "Gingko House," has established the "Senior Joy Canteen" in the Sham Shui Po district, providing affordable meals for the underprivileged. In addition, the "Gingko Supply Station: Love Bread Edition" was launched, distributing free bread to impoverished individuals, low-income families, subdivided flat residents, and others in need through vending machines.

A loaf of bread may be insignificant for some people, but it is an essential daily food for those living below the poverty line.

In light of the growing disparity between the rich and the poor, Hong Kong Everbright Groups Limited fully supports the establishment of the non-profit organization "Everbright Concern Action." It was officially approved as a registered charity organization by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in April 2002. The initiative aims to help vulnerable communities and express concern for those living in poverty through concrete actions, demonstrating how one life can impact another. The "Everbright Charity Fund" was established to assist impoverished individuals and families in need of short-term financial support.
